Muzica electronica domina cultura urbana a clubbingului de mai bine de un deceniu. Desi a cunoscut mai multe urcusuri si coborasuri, muzica techno a demonstrat unei lumi intregi ca nu va disparea niciodata.
Acelasi lucru nu se poate spune insa despre foarte multi artisti. Producatorul si DJ-ul cu domiciliul in Hamburg, Oliver Huntemann, este fara indoiala, unul din putinii artisti prezenti pe scena techno inca de la inceputurile acesteia pana in prezent... Nascut in nordul "funky" al Germaniei, acesta s-a trezit repede infectat cu virusul muzicii. Gratie unui val inovator de cultura si muzica nord-americana ce matura Europa inca din anii '70, Oliver a inceput sa inregistreze emisiunile de radio pe caseta, sa-si cumpere vinyl-uri si sa experimenteze cu prima sa pereche de turntable-uri. Mai concret, aceste influente au fost rap-ul, breakdance-ul si arta graffiti-ului, cum au fost ele prezentate in filme ca "Beat Street" sau "Wildstyle" si transpuse in muzica de artisti ca Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow sau Whodini. De aici nu a mai fost nevoie decat de-un pas pentru ca Huntemann sa se apuce de mixat pe la party-uri, realizand repede ca asta vrea faca in viata - "yeah, right Oliver .. heard that before, so you're going to be a big ass DJ touring the world and so on… somebody bring me an espresso please… " spuneau parintii sai…Pentru a le face pe plac acestora, Oliver a petrecut 6 ani in fortele navale germane, pentru a invata cum sa fie un bun tehnician electronist - "aye aye sir!". Insa nici exercitiile militare si nici disciplina armatei nu l-au putut impiedica sa-si cheltuiasca toti bani pe vinyl-uri si pe party-uri
Cand "furtuna" acid-house a lovit in plin Germania, la finele anilor '80, Oliver a inteles imediat ce i se potriveste si ce trebuie sa faca. A inceput sa organizeze propriile party-uri de techno si astfel l-a cunoscut pe Gerret Freichs, proprietarul unui club si a unui mic studio in care, impreuna cu muzicianul jazz H.G. Schmidt, au dat nastere proiectului Humate - primul release sub acest nume aparand in 1992 la label-ul MFS…
Cu un numar impresionant de release-uri si de proiecte dintre care putem aminti infiintarea deja legendarelor case de discuri Confused si Dance Elecric, releaseurile Huntemann si H-man, sau prolificul concept Rekorder realizat impreuna cu Stephan Bodzin la label-uri ca Gigolo, Cocoon sau Giant Wheel, fara sa uitam desigur de cele de la propriile sale labeluri, construirea studioului Super 8 sau numeroasele gig-uri pe care le are ca DJ pe tot globul, Oliver Huntemann inca nu a oboist si nu s-a saturat sa impartaseasca viziunea proprie despre arta muzicii unei lumi intregi! Permanent constient ca, in cea ce priveste stilurile si influentele, muzica electronica, a fost si va fi intotdeauna o chestiune ce tine de inovatie, si-a creat un stil unic si inconfundabil, intotdeauna de actualitate si mereu inovator.
Ultima sa creatie este un nou label - Ideal. Ideal este un label dedicat in totalitate muzicii electronice "fresh", in principal sub forma propriilor sale productii. Lansand piese sub numele Oliver Huntemann si-a adus contributia ca o reflexie a amprentei sale proprii in noul label.
De asemenea, prin realizarea unor remixuri pentru nume grele ale muzicii electronice ca Depeche Mode, Underworld sau Chemical Brothers si in urma unui proiect plin de success realizat impreuna cu Dubfire (Deep Dish), putem spune fara indoiala ca Oliver ramane in continuare unul din cei mai talentati si apreciati producatori din intreaga lume.
Oliver Huntemann este cu siguranta unul dintre artistii ce trebuie urmariti in permanenta, prezenti pe scena muzicii electronice de peste un deceniu, fara sa piarda insa legatura cu underground-ul.

Electronic dance music has dominated urban club culture for more than a decade. Through its many highs and lows, techno music has proven that it is here to stay. The same cannot be said of very many techno artists. Hamburg-based recording artist and DJ Oliver Huntemann is, without doubt, one of the few activists from the early days still holding the torch. Brought up in the funky northern German countryside, he soon found himself heavily infected by the fascinating world of music. He started taping radio shows, buying vinyl and experimenting with his first set of turntables - all due to the massive wave of innovative American youth culture and music that pervaded Europe from the late seventies onwards. In practical terms: rap music, breakdancing and graffiti as featured in movies like Beat Street and Wildstyle or recorded by the likes of Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow or Whodini. It didn't take long until Huntemann began spinning records at parties and realizing that this is what he wanted to do with his life - yeah, right Oliver .. heard that before, so you're going to be a big ass DJ touring the world and so on... somebody bring me an espresso please...
To placate his parents, Oliver sought out a "proper education" and spent 6 years with the German naval forces learning how to be an electronics technician - aye aye sir!
No amount of military drills or discipline, however, could keep him from spending all of his money on records and going to parties.
When acid house took Germany by storm in the late eighties, Oliver immediately knew that this was his thing - he was electrified! He started organizing his own techno parties and got to know Gerret Frerichs, who worked in a club and ran a small recording studio, which is where they created the Humate project, together with the jazz musician H.G. Schmidt ! Their first record was released in 1992 on the cult label MFS... >>fast forward>>
Through a trillion records and a wealth of projects - from the foundation of the successful dance labels Confused and Dance Electric to Huntemann and H-Man releases, via the highly profilic concept series Rekorder with Stephan Bodzin on labels like Cocoon, Gigolo or Giant Wheel, not forgetting those on his own labels, to the many DJ gigs around the world and, last but not least, building the Super 8 Studio - Oliver Huntemann has yet to grow tired of serving up state of the art music! His instinctive awareness that, in terms of styles and influences, electronic dance music is - and always will be - about renewal, has allowed him to maintain a unique freshness and keep his special touch very much alive.
His latest coup is a new label: Ideal. Ideal is totally dedicated to fresh electronic music, primarily in the form of his own productions. Releasing tracks as Oliver Huntemann is a perfect reflection of his personal approach to the label.
Following remixes for some of the biggest names in electronic music such as Depeche Mode, Underworld, Chemical Brothers and a successful collaboration with Dubfire (Deep Dish), Oliver is still one of the hottest producers on the scene.
So keep on watching out for Oliver Huntemann, on the scene for over a decade without losing his connection to the underground.
